Welcome to MicahsCall™.: MicahsCall (registered as micahscall.org) MicahsCall(R), is an online community dedicated to social action, discussion, and prayer. Neighborhood by neighborhood, city by city, and eventually all across the country, we seek to answer the first-century prophet Micah's call to Do Justice, Love Kindness and Walk Humbly with God. MicahsCall follows the community-based model of Craigslist, allowing community members to view and post items of local, regional or national interest.

We're on TV!

In this endeavor we are guided by Robert McAfee Brown (Theologian and Activist) who exhorted us to have "convictions without arrogance, insight without absolutism, commitment without coercion, and democracy without demagoguery."

Some History

For years, members and friends of the First Presbyterian Church of Palo Alto would gather around the communion table towards the end of worship, and from that circle they would share prayers and calls to action. It was through that circle that community was formed and the world was transformed. A banner decorated the wall behind that circle, quoting the Jewish prophet Micah: "Do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God." His words and the prayer circle inspired the creation of MicahsCall. Micah's prophetic words are central to the mission of MicahsCall.

When Jesus was asked which of all the commandments in the Old Testament were the most important, he said you should "love God with all your soul, all your strength, and all your might, and love your neighbor as yourself." This is often referred to as the Two Great Commandments. The Two Great Commandments are also a cornerstone of MicahsCall. The Second Great Commandment of "love" provides moral guidance on how we should treat our neighbors and is found in some form in most of the world's great religions. And just who are our neighbors and what does "loving" them really mean? Do justice, love kindness and walk humbly. Ah a great circle!

Today, you are invited to join the MicahsCall circle--to pray, speak, act, and call others to act. Action, of course, can take many forms: volunteer to build a house: feed the hungry: clothe the naked; take to the streets to demand justice, and/or call others into dialogue. So many waysone great web site. But, it won't be great without you--MicahsCall is YOUR web site!

Initial funding for the web site was made possible by a generous grant from the First Presbyterian Church of Palo Alto.
