From Mary Klein: Peninsula Interfaith Action Hi PIA friends, As you know, PIA and PACT have been working for more than 2 years on expanding healthcare coverage to the uninsured and under-insured in Santa Clara County--a difficult challenge in the current fiscal climate. We've recently learned that Valley Medical Center must bring its facilities up to adequate seismic standards or face closing down half of the hospital, including its noted burn and trauma centers, unless we pass a bond issue--Measure A-- this November to insure that the safety net is maintained. I'd like to encourage you to attend an important research meeting with Chris Wilder, Executive Director of Valley Medical Foundation, to be held on:
Tuesday, September 2 7:00-8:30 pm Congregation Beth Am Room Bet (a PACT or PIA sign will be outside to show location)
The purpose of the meeting is to: - Learn about the VMC plans to launch a "YES on A" campaign - Obtain literature/fliers etc that we could share with our respective congregations - Determine how PIA and PACT can partner to help pass Measure A
Please let me know if you can make it so that we can be sure the room is big enough.

Hope you are able to come and contribute to the discussion. Thanks, Jean Mary Colleen Klein Executive Director Peninsula Interfaith Action 1336 Arroyo Avenue San Carlos, CA 94070 cell: 650-796-4160 www.piapico.org
