Islam and Mohammad. Part 19
Monday, March 01 2010 @ 04:32 PM by Sabuhi Siddique ISLAM AND MOHAMMAD-PART 19 After entering into Mecca, Holy Prophet of Islam went straight to Kaaba and performed a circuit of Kaaba seven times on a Camel. The he performed an ablution with the water of the well called “ZAMZAM”. This well is believed to have sprung at the time of the birth of Ishmael, son of Prophet Abraham. This Well is still working and when Muslim goes to Mecca to perform Pilgrimage they not only drink the water, but bring it back for their family and friends, as a token. (The book Halbiyya, Vol.3, p.99)” So devoted were Muslims to the Prophet’s person; that they would not let a drop of this water fall on the ground. They received the water in the hollows of their hands to wet their bodies with it; in such reverence did they hold it. The pagans who witnessed these scenes of devotion said again and again that they had never seen an earthly king to whom his people were so devoted.” The Holy Prophet of Islam stayed in Mecca for fifteen days. In that time he organized and spread the teachings of Islam. After that the Prophet addressed the Meccans and said: “You have seen how true the promises of God have proved. Now tell me what punishment you should for the cruelties and enormities you committed against those whose only fault was that they invited you to the worship of the One and Only God”. To this the Meccans replied,” We accept you to treat us as Joseph treated his erring brothers”. By co-incidence this was foretold to Holy Prophet ten years before the conquest of Mecca in one of the Chapter of Holy Quran called”AL-YUSUF”, which was revealed to the Prophet and is in the Holy Book of Muslim called Holy Quran, that the people will ask for his forgiveness, as YUSUF, was asked for his forgiveness by his brothers. Meccans admitted that the Holy Prophet is just like Joseph, and as Joseph became victorious over his brothers, the Prophet had been granted victory over the Meccans. Upon hearing the Meccans plea, the Prophet said at once:” By God you will have no punishment today and no reproof”. (Hisham)
The people of Medina were observing the forgiveness and Prophet’s interest and happiness for Mecca and its people became little insecure, and thought that he might now stay in Mecca for good and not move back to Medina. When the Prophet came to know he told the people of Medina that,” Do you know,” said the Prophet”, who I am? I am a Servant of God and his Messenger. How can I give you up? You stood by me, and sacrificed your lives when the Faith of God had no earthly help. I left Mecca for the sake of God and I cannot return to it. I will live and die with you”. The Medinites were pleased to hear this and felt lucky to find out that the Prophet will reside in Medina eventually. Two persons who were staunch enemies of Islam and Prophet Mohammad were also forgiven by Mohammad. One was Ikrima and the other was Habbar. Ikrima was a son of Abu Jahal, who was an enemy of Islam and promised himself to murder Holy Prophet in his life time, but he was never succeeded in it. Ikrima’s wife already accepted Islam and requested for Prophet’s forgiveness. REF; LIFE OF MUHAMMAD by Hazrat Mirza Bashir-ud-din Mahmud Ahmad.1990 Islam International Publications Limited.
